Hey I had bought a pair of baffles when I purchased my pipes, but did not install them as I wanted to see what sound and performance was like without them. Well, I am ready to experiment and install them. I am not sure on how to go about this one.

Here is the baffle that I bought.

Radii 2″ Side Viper Exhaust Baffle

Here are the pipes that I have.

    Radii 2″ Side Viper Exhaust

I am not sure which end goes where? What do I do? Any input would be awesome. :banghead:

The louvered end goes in first....wide end with the bolts is the back ...drill a hole in the pipes about 2" in from the end, push/tap the baffle in to line up the bolt hole with the one you drilled and bolt it in....your choice where you want to drill the hole but usually done at the 9 o'clock position looking from the end of the pipe.
    Hope this helps:devil:

Nope, these pipes do not have holes pre-drilled.

    proper tuning will help both....

with pipes like that its a good idea to tune it...

Odd the description from your link implies that you
need to select a baffle when you order...

    • For 1986-2006 applications purchase the O2 Sensor Hex plugs 4400305

    • 2007-08 models require re-installation of O2 Sensors

    • Includes mounting bracket for 2004 and later

    • 1986-2003 models will need to purchase mounting bracket 443-197

    • Order baffle style as desired for required back pressure

    • Use 443-199 on 1986-2003 models for rear peg mounting

I have the baffles already, I just did not install them as I wanted to see how the bike was without them. You know, after I got back from a ride last night, the bike ran sooo good that I am still debating if I want to install them. I like the noise. I like it when people turn their heads to see what is coming. :chopper:

Put the baffles in and ride, it might sound better, deep and rumbling with a good amount
of volume, vs just loud and you'll probably pick up some bottom end TQ which you need.

Also remember there is a big push on nationally by cities to crack down on open pipes and loud motorcycles, not only could you get a ticket, but it could help spur local ordinances restricting motorcycle sound levels, which, means all of us are affected...

Better to enjoy the ride, sound good but not LOUD, and keep the ability to change pipes out for everyone.

Hey I have a set of Bassani Pro Streets that will bend a sound meter needle, even with baffles in... Love to hear them, but I run them at events on the softail only, otherwise it's just too friggin loud for my neighbors late at night or when I roll out Sun AM...

Yeah, with a lot of things it takes me a little while to make up my mind on something. I want the bottom end to be better, yet I really like the sound of my bike without the baffles. Give me another year and I may have made my mind up. I have thought that I would get a custom cam made for me to take care of the low end. There are just too many options that I have to choose from. :)

Open pipes will still kill your cam's performance.

Gonna take you all of 10 minutes to drill a small hole in the back or bottom of the pipes
and stick them in, see what happens, worse thing is you like it better...

This is true, but with that bracket to hold the pipes, it will take longer than 10 min. Just seems to be the way that it goes on this bike, everything is so close quarters.
