Sounds like the clutch is not adjusted properly. Clutch dragging will make finding neutral difficult, hard to get out of neutral too. Tech manual and start with complete clutch adjustment not just the cable.

i took it to a dealer and got it adjusted and the fluid changed, it seemed better after i got it back but its been a couple months and its worse now then ever, im thinking the clutches are gummed up and sticking together, does that sound sensible, lol

OK so yer mechanically inclined and tooled up.. LOL

    Put it on a jack,

    Loosen up the cable adjuster
remove clutch primary cover the big round one
In the center is a lock nut and allen bolt in the center of it

Break loose the nut, I use a tall socket with nut on end to put
open end on the nut, put allen through center to hold and pop nut loose
back off nut, don't take off

    Back off allen

Move clutch lever in and out to seat the ball and ramp assembly
leave lever all the way in at the grip.

Now turn in allen smooth, it will start moving lever out
get lever out to full, pull cable away from housing at lever
you want to shoot for about a quarters width.

back off allen about half turn and hold with allen, put on socket and
tighten down nut. You don't want it tight (allen) on the pushrod in there
or you'll burn out the throw out bearing on the opposite end.

YOu do want the nut tight though that hold allen.

Now use the cable adjuster to get it to about a dimes width when
you pull cable from handle housing.

Tighten down jam nut at adjuster.

Should be a piece of cake if you're mechanically inclined....last trip to the dealer should be for the Factory Service Manual and Parts Catalog:cool:

If you're still having problems with slipping, grabbing, etc., manual should show you how to tighten the tension spring nuts. I adjust mine to where the clutch will just grab without slipping and no more. Discs could be worn thinner or warped. Sometimes it helps to take the discs & spacers out and inspect for glazing, wear, and warp on a piece of glass. I had to replace everything in mine and also installed a clutch retainer. Shifts much better now, at least for an old shovel!

Yeah, I wouldn't pay HD to do work like that if you can do it yourself. All you need is a service manual. Helps to have a bike jack, too.

Tc has one flat spring plate. Do not tighten them. You will break internal hub
