    I recently had to have my Electronic Computer Module replaced on my 06 Ultra Classic. At first the dealer said I would need a new tuner kit to be compatible, then turned around and said that my old tuner kit would work. I just wanted to know if I'm getting shafted or will the old tuner kit work with the new ECM? Thanks!!

    Are you talking about the SERT or Screaming Eagle Race Tuner?

    Supposedly it marries to the ECM, if your new ECM S/N is the same it would work without a problem.

    Only way to know is to hook it up, plus if you got a new ECM you need to remap it anyway. HD should replace the SERT if the ECM dumped you shouldn't be held responsible for that. YOu'd just need a new dongle (black thing)

    Yes, it was the Screamin Eagle Tuner Kit. It's still under warranty for another 2 weeks, but I think I'm going to extend it another 2 years. Thanks! for the reply Road King.

    Here's the point where HD has you by the short curlies, the SERT is a "Race component that is not for street use". Therefore it is not normal practice to warrenty the item under the HD warrenty. If your dealer originally installed the SERT you may be able to get him to cover it but the normal motor company warrenty would not stand up to scrutiny. I've seen motors that scissored the crank and when hooked up to the digital technician it was found that the motor had a SERT and would not be covered due to the off road only clause. It comes down to if you modify a bike to anything other than the EPA accepted and HD blessed upgrades, you are on your own if it breaks.

    Well got the bike back today....they kept the old ECM and just remapped/downloaded my tuner kit and it worked. For some reason the ECM went "blank" and didn't recognize anything. Only thing is it still acts like it barely wants to start after its warm/hot(it's done this since it was new), like when I stop for gas or something. Naturally when I take it back to the dealer it does a minor hesitation and starts up. Battery is fine....it cranks on cold starts fine. I've suggested everything from starter to alternator. So they claim they'll give it a complete electrical check over on my 10,000 mile service.
