Well my Fatboy has turned the corner and has arrived at the age old status of a true Harley. It developed an oil leak! It appears to be at the rear cylinder, rocker box to jug gasket just above exhaust port. Several drops per hour of riding. I guess I have found a winter project. :banghead:

I would if I could. A nice dark blue Limited would look great in the garage, or even a black one!

If your crank is O.K. it shouldn't cost that much if you do it yourself.
I'd run a compression check before I tore it down.
You can take the top end down. Put each set of parts in beer flats, or on a build table you make at home.
I'd send the heads to Big Boyz heads and have the valve seats and all replaced and cleaned up.

Have somebody mic the cylinders and pistons for you.
You might just come out with honing and new rings and a gasket kit.

Get a digial 3/8 torque wrench and a manual and put it back together.

If you was here i'd help you do it.

If yer gonna pull it down. Might as well have the heads done, Not ported or anything.
And might as well check the rings and all. I'd at least have the cylinders honed and new rings.
and git new top end gasket kit.

Let me at it Boss I will fix it fer you.:roflmao:

Is it coming from between the head and jug or from JUST beneath the valve cover, above the rocker box ?

this what it sounds like he's saying , if so comet gaskets makes a set for that so no need to pull the whole top end about $50

I believe that it's the lower rocker box to head gasket. Between the rocker box and cylinder head. There is less than 30k miles on the engine I see no reason to drop a lot of time and dollars going farther than a rockerbox gasket.
