They ain't gonna teach him at MMI

Know a dude that went to MMI, he had HD to come and git him and take him to HD performance for like 3 yrs cause he was so good.
He worked at a HD dealer 50 miles from me. Best HD mechanic I know and he's a good dyno man it you can git him free for dyno time.
This past winter it was so slow, he couldn't make any money.
He went to work for the Conroe Maintanance dept to work on their cars so he has a steady job, and health benefits.
And he has all the weekends off and the holidays. Lot better than he was gittin as a HD mechanic. He worked all weekends.

The MMI is expensive and by the time you go there and buy a lot of the tools you need you got a heck of a monthly payment.

Wish yer son all the luck in the world.

Won't they teach him all brands of bikes ? The kaw, suz, Honda all have more to learn many of them have to split cases to do any major work on them , ie trans work & such

Well I was jokin about the T-Max. The first 9 months is general MC repair. You learn a little about all bikes. Mainly it's engine education. After the first nine you have a choice of specialty. Kawa, 4 months, Yama, 4 months, Honda, 12 months, Harley, 12 months. Honda is ALL Honda motors, outboard, mower bike, etc. He want's Kawa. then what is left on GI bill he may go for Yama. I tried to discourage him a little. I was a full auto in my youth. Much better pay now for auto mechs. What are ya gonna do wid yooseths deese days!

When I was selling MAC Tools I had a Honda/Yamaha shop and a Harley shop I called on in Beaverton OR. The HD shop always seemed more organized and better flowing. The Honda/Yamaha is the largest in Oregon but yet they went through mechanics like running water. Winter time the Honda/Yamaha guys always got laid off worse than the HD guys. If he gets into an area where there is a lot of winter sports to he could have good employment year round.
