from what little bit i can see it looks fine. it is very hard to read plugs in this day and age. you need a quality magnifying glass to see down into the plug. the reason is all the junk that is put in todays gas makes it nearly impossible to read a plug, unless the electrode is missing or some other obvious malfunction.

you can't really tell without equipment anymore
the fuels burn very clean, as long as you don't see
spots or black soot or oil you look to be in range.

Fuel mileage is a good indicator on lean/rich

Are there any pits in the ceramic part? If there are then there is an issue that needs to be addressed. I agree with you, I think that the plugs look a little lean. I figured out that my Sportster was running lean by reading the plugs. Of course I check then frequently and was able to notice the differences from each time. :)

Would like to see the back side of the strap to see were the timing is at ?should be about just past mid way on the strap . I like a little more advance . But that's just me .

if the motor feels soft to you on the botom end and you keep throwing fuel at it it gonna get softer . im assume your at 88 ci and a 37g is to much cam for an 88 as far as fuel goes your rich with a 48 . at jetting is concerned . 45 . 195 . is more than plenty . the 37g has a late intake close . and works better for bigger bore . your torque below 2100 rpm is prob a little soft and the motor starts to make good power around 2600 and above and pulls like hell at 3000 to red line . correct!? so my suggestion is back the slow jet down . if it has a stock needle in it put a cv needle in try a 195 main or a 190 . slap a 0.30 head gasket and if your gonna pull the heads clean up the ports and mill them 0.50 and that 88 will run it ass off.lean is mean but to fat slows you down alot.

    Hey Bro
Thanks for the tip, im gonna go 95 in the winter.
it runs good just that the plugs looked a little lean. i am gonna pull the carb this weekend and see what slow jet is in her. I will put a 195 and depending what slow jet is in there i will either do a .45 or .46. She starts right up all the time without using the choke, i get some popping on decel (No intake leak) and (no exhaust leak either). I figured going to a .48 might help the problem. What do you think?

prob pops only when you get off of it after a real hard pull . the longer the duration is on the exhaust side of the cam the longer the valve stays open might be some unburnt fuel left in the pipe thats why it poping . put a 45 or 46 in there run the mixture screw out 1.5 turns and try it if it does not pop with regular riding leave it alone . how often do we ride wide open and let off real hard in reality . my motor is a 98 set at 9.75.1 tc2 g cams mild port work and a 2.1. 45 190 2 turns out on the screw . only pops if i ride like an animal . oh and a cv velocity needle . thats when i had a cv carb . tried another carb for a little while going back to the cv . much nicer carb . it will go back on very soon .

    OK

So I pulled mu carb, it already had a .48 slow jet and a 185 main.
I replaced the 185 with a 195. After some fine tuning I have the decel popping to a minimum. I think I might have Killer performance rebuild a carb for me. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

You can do it yourself with a kit from CV performance, really there isn't anything to it, just take your time and follow instructions. The decel popping is probably caused cause from the throttle closing quickly and it is burning the rest of the fuel off. The 48 main should be just fine as long as you have zero air leaking in from some place. Also make sure you don't have any exhaust leaks at the head pipe. The CV is the best carb out there don't be fooled by all the hype about S & S, or any other carb for that matter. JMO

    Hey man Thanks

I have checked the intake seals and I replaced the exhaust gaskets.
i tested the intake with propane and there are no leaks.
I have rebuilt my carb a couple of times already I know it is not hard.
i do all my own work. What do you think about the plug pictures.
maybe i should leave well enough alone, the bike runs awesome.
Every once in a while it farts through the carb though.
