Have a Spyke starter that's been problems from day one

It would start with the stock button then quit. Put a button on the end of the solenoid and it will start every time

Voltage at wire is 11.4 without fail

Spyke said to add second ground which I have done and pit in new plunger and contacts to be sure

Worked about twenty times and then stops and you can't use start button but you can use end button to force plunger

Ran wire direct to tab for green wire and get huge spark but no start

Put inline fuse on green wire and it blows it all the time

    Must be bad solenoid?

Hotroadking, what is the compression ratio of engine? I think you're not getting enough amps to the solenoid, and it's causing an arc-flash on the solenoid contacts. You should have the starter wired directly to the battery with a relay--no fuse. And wire should be at least 6 gauge stranded for 30 amps.

11 to 1. It has electric releases that open when the button is mashed so effective comp is zero at start

I have two grounds on bike with one direct from starter to battery ground

Power is direct on relay and it gets about 11 amps on the green wire

i would check the contact plates in the solenoid.....i think the plates are not as good as they used to be. they seem to burn quicker than the old ones........i think the reason it will work with the starter mounted button is it is a direct link, not obstructed by relays, wire connectors, ect...........

build a new plate from a known good source of copper..i think a drill press and a couple of hole saws would do the trick...i dont think there made as well as they used to be.....ones on cars really look bad also......

Yep, just like on house current the more amps the bigger the wire that is required.
