    Hi you all.

I have a 1996 Sportster 1200XL. The bike has been suffering for a long time, with my stuffed aircleaner. Now I finally did some changes to it. I changed the Harley standard airfilter to an Arlen Ness Big Sucker, mufflers are from Cycle Shacks slipons and now I installed the complete CVP stage 1 kit. Also installed the EZ-just and made sure that the spring and washer are in place.

As the manual stage 1 kit papers that said, I went up one number on the pilot- and the main jet. The EZ-Just I turned out 1 3/4, as recomended for the Sportster. Changed the needle, spring and the accelerator pump. Everything from the kit.

My Sportster is now perfect:biker: No carb farting and no black smoke from the pipes, no pops...just smooth. It just runs perfectly from start to 4500 rpm (that is as far as I go). And the sound is different too. Much deeper sound and I can hear the Big Sucker really suck in that air. My Sportster is a completely different bike now. All perfect thanks to a complete stage 1 upgrade:)

    BUT

When I tune the carb with the EZ-Just, there is no differense at idle. All the way in or 3 turns out. All the same. But there is a differense when I ride my bike. If I change it from the recomended 1 3/4 turns, the bike isn“t as smooth.

So my question is; shall I keep it at 1 3/4 turns and the new jets, but ignore the fact that the carb does not respond adjusting the EZ at idle??

I do not want to change back to a smaller pilot, because then the bike just did not run right. Even with the mixture 3 turns out.

Keep it like it is and just ride and enjoy. Or do I have to take everything apart...

Again, thanks to CV Performance for making my old Sportster a true Sportster again:D

Some bikes just seem to have a problem finding the point of stumbling when twisting the mixture screw or EZ-Just in. If the off-idle performance is still rough try adjusting the EZ-Just out another 1/8th of a turn. Otherwise stick with the jetting that you have and enjoy.
