so I need a bit of help with a 1999 Dyna super glide.... Bike is basically stock except for a set of shot gun pipes. It ran ok but had a bit of low end/mid range hiccup. Recently the bike suffered a massive backfire through the intake blowing the carb right off of the spigot and ripping the spigot boot. Also had a no spark issue due to a bad cam sensor which I replaced. After getting spark and replacing the carb (using the torn boot) the bike would start ok but would surge, almost like it was out of gas, and backfire through the exhaust to to the point it was unreadable. I figured this was due to a vacuum leak from the torn boot so I ordered a CVP refresh kit with new boot and seals.

Now on the issue. After installing the kit and installing the now cleaned carb back on the bike with the new boot I still have the same issue. Surging at low speeds and back firing. When I get on the throttle she runs good ... could this be other than a carb problem? Maybe the MAP sensor? Cam timing issue? .. For reference I have an 185 main jet and 45 pilot jet with air bleed turned out 2 3/4 turns

Sorry for such a long post but this issue is driving me mad... Appreciate any help offered

    Matt

Did the bike always have a low end/mid range hiccup? Did it start with the new pipes? Did it start after carb work? Was the carb vacuum port hole drilled out? Did you check the vacuum slide?

    Have you checked http://cv-performance.com/harley-cv-carburetor-tuning-issues page?

It does sound like a vacuum problem. Good luck, and let us know what you find.
