Well it happened, unfortunately it happened to someone I know. Fortunately he's alive but he'll be in the hospital far from his home which is in Virginia in a Hartford, CT hospital. Four of us coming back to Long Island from Americade in up-state NY riding through Mass., then CT. but in CT while rider one was slowing for a right-hander on a beautiful back country lane, rider 2 (me) slowed, rider 3 (rider 4's Dad) slowed rider 4 the 42 year old son from VA locked his rear brake, went into a skid, then released the brake and high-sided his street glide at about 30 mph. I caught this in my rear view mirror when I hear the screeching tire expecting to get rear-ended. Rider four did a swan dive and rolled about 6 times coming to a stop on his back spread eagle in the middle of the road,...

Just a heads up to anyone with a 2000-2008 bagger. It's not a matter of "if" the line wears through but "when"
Right side of the King was wet from behind the floorboard to tranny side cover...I thought it was leaking from the clutch cable until I came to a set of lights and rear brake pedal was gone
Fortunately I was just coasting to the lights and wasn't needing to haul it down in a hurry.
I searched the innernet for a replacement line because when I called the dealer here they wanted $248.00 for a stock brake line
...I told him I just wanted a steel brake line with a section of rubber flex hose on it,not one made of Platinum or Titanium
....He said that's the price of a stock line...
So in my search I found that it is fairly common for these lines to rub through over...

I had the pleasure of meeting this great lady. She was involved in motorcycling her whole life. Myself and many others here loved to just talk with her hear her stories of the early days of motorcycling.
I just learned that Cookie passed today and all of us who meant her and knew here will greatly miss her.
Her last years were spent riding a trike but she never gave up.
